Auditions: Saturday May 14th & 21st 10 a.m.
2941 Morning Star Drive
Las Cruces NM 88011
When Morning Star Church asked Megan McQueen for a fun, summer idea for young people, she got chills. FINALLY, the time was right to present:
“FROZEN, Jr.”
On June 17, 18, and 19th, thirty children from kindergarten to 18 will present the stage adaptation of the top-grossing animated film of all time. Auditions on Saturdays May 14th and 21st at 10 a.m. at Morning Star Church will determine these thirty participants who will pay $25 for many perks of being in FROZEN (detailed below).
The 60-minute musical features award-winning music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, including “Do You Want to Build a Snowman,” “Love is an Open Door,” and “Let It Go.” The book by Jennifer Lee is adapted from the 2013 Disney film and the 2018 Broadway stage musical.
“When the opportunity arose to work with Scaffolding Theatre Company to offer this fun, valuable and healthy summer experience for the children of Las Cruces, my team and I jumped at the chance,” says Rev. Amy Wilson Feltz, Morning Star’s lead pastor. “The scope of this project has the possibility of reaching hundreds of people in the community with a message of love and hope. We could all use a bit more of both these days.”
The show will rehearse from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday from June 6 to 16, and 2pm through the first performance time on Friday June 17th.
"When my husband and I saw the musical on Broadway in 2018,” says director Megan McQueen, “we were swept up in the electric enthusiasm of so many young families. They could barely contain themselves from singing along, so we’re planning to find ways for audiences to contribute to the magic of the musical.”
Disney’s Frozen JR. is presented through special arrangement with and all materials are provided by Music Theatre International. One of the world’s leading theatrical licensing agencies, MTI is particularly dedicated to educational theatre and has created special collections to meet the needs of various types of performers and audiences.
